CONTROL VALVES IN OIL, GAS AND PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY

Image
What is it? A control valve is a device which is power-operated practically used to manipulate or regulate the flow of fluids, such as oil, gas, steam & water. Being a critical part of the control loop, it is an example of a final control element. The Control Valves are one of the most preferred final control elements in the various industries. Why is it used? Usually, the processing plants con s ist of thousands, of control loops that are all connected together to manufacture a product that is to be sold. Every control loop is designed and planned to maintain important procedures such as flow, pressure, temperature, level, etc. within a particular operating range that is required to ensure the quality of the end product. How does it function? The actuator one of the main devices in the valve which is connected to the valve through the stem that provides the force which is required to move the valve. Control valves can be operated pneumatically, electrically or hydraulically. It re...

Use of Gate Valves in Marine & Mining Industry

Image
Gate Valves are designed to serve as isolation valves. These valves help to control the flow of liquid through the pipes. To start or stop the water flow or any other kind of liquid, these valves are affixed to the pipelines. Gate valves are primarily used for on/off applications. Gate valves are very common due to their simple design and ease of operation. The gate is raised by a threaded stem to allow fluid flow. Gate valves are not recommended for throttling, or restricting fluid flow by having the valve partially open. Their Design: Gate valves are very simple, and operate in either the fully open or fully closed position. By turning the handle on the top, the screw turns and moves the wedge up or down. The wedge is angled in such a way that if wear does occur, the wedge will still be guided into position. When a gate valve is fully open, there will be small pressure drop across the valve. Contrarily, when the valve is fully closed, it is pressurized and very well sealed. With the ...

How Butterfly Valves Used in Various Industries

Image
Butterfly valves are valves that isolates or regulates the flow of a fluid. They belong to a family of valves known as “quarter turn valves”. The closing mechanism is a disk that rotates. The disc is connected to an actuator outside the valve with the help of a rod. The valve plate when pivoted at the centre and moved with the help of an actuator, resembles the butterfly wings and therefore they are known as Butterfly valves. BUTTERFLY VALVES  TYPES: Butterfly valves are basically divided into different types on the basis of pressure and usage. As per Disc Closure Design Concentric Butterfly Valve Eccentric Butterfly Valves As  p er Piping Connection Design Wafer Type Butterfly Valve Lug Type Butterfly Valve Double Flange Butterfly Valve THEIR ADVANTAGES: Butterfly valves are similar to ball valves but have several advantages. They are small and, when actuated pneumatically, open and close very quickly. The disc is lighter than a ball, and the valve requires less structural su...

BALL VALVES IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES

Image
Introduction to Ball valves: A ball valve is a valve with a spherical disc, the part of the valve which controls the flow, pressure control in gas distribution systems and pressure reduction in connection with gas storage. These valves are also often used as isolating valves since they give rise to very little pressure drop in the fully open position. If the valve is opened, the holes in the ball stay in line with the body inlet allowing contents to pass. A ball valve manufacturers generally uses several metals for the ball while the seats are made from materials like Teflon, Neoprene etc. The ball valve can operate at temperatures as low as -200℃ and as high as 500℃. Ball valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications. The only downside is that these valves do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications. Types: There are three basic types of ball ...

TYPES OF INDUSTRIAL VALVES & APPLICATIONS

Image
What is Valves? A valve is a electro-mechanical device that regulates, controls, or directs the flow of a fluid by opening, closing, or partially obstructing fluid flow. Is it sound bit complicated? Ok, let me further simplified this. A valve is a mechanical device used to controls the flow and pressure of the fluid within a system or process. So basically, it controls the flow & pressure. There are many Industrial  Valve manufacturers  available across the global. They produce various types of industrial  ex stock valves , each has been designed with unique features and applications. Valves & Applications Ball Valves Butterfly Valves Gate Valves Ball Valves : As the name signifies, the ball valves is a kind of industrial valve that use a ball to control and navigate the flow in a pipeline. Ball valves are basically used to control the flow and pressure in gas distribution systems and for reducing the pressure connections with gas storage. These valves act ...
