BALL VALVES IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES
Introduction to Ball valves:
A ball valve is a valve with a spherical disc, the part of the valve which controls the flow, pressure control in gas distribution systems and pressure reduction in connection with gas storage. These valves are also often used as isolating valves since they give rise to very little pressure drop in the fully open position. If the valve is opened, the holes in the ball stay in line with the body inlet allowing contents to pass.
A ball valve manufacturers generally uses several metals for the ball while the seats are made from materials like Teflon, Neoprene etc. The ball valve can operate at temperatures as low as -200℃ and as high as 500℃. Ball valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications. The only downside is that these valves do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications.
Types:
There are three basic types of ball valves: reduced port, full port and venturi port. Typically, they are used for air lines, process lines, gas lines, pigging lines etc. The design and cost are the deciding factors in the type to be used.
Industrial Uses:
Ball valves are utilized in a number of industrial sectors, and are designed in full accordance with the industry specific standards, to ensure smooth flow of the operations. They are more commonly used in the engineering machinery procedures, as well as in other industries.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industry:
The first choice of chemical industries; are ball valves that ensure quick and easy maintenance of inline processes. They ensure efficiency and safety in the chemical sector, where handling of dangerous chemicals and gases is quite a tricky business. Due to highly corrosive chemicals coupled with continuous handling of different forms of gases, vapours and liquids, throughout various processes, the valve manufacturers and valve suppliers need to meet a constant demand for a high-quality ball valve throughout every process.
With the use of ball valve, processes are made more efficient, with no risk of any threat from exposure to dangerous fluids, or gases. Most of the ball valves are designed with bonnets, which help separate and isolate the working section of the valve from the probable exposure to any form of abrasive liquid or gas. This ensures that the dangerous gas or liquid only comes into contact with the body, lining and the diaphragm of the ball valve. The high-quality ball valves are given priority in the sector, as they help ensure zero maintenance costs, resistance to corrosion and highly durable finishing standards.
Oil & Gas Industry:
The oil and gas industry has presented the valve suppliers and the manufacturing personnel with difficult and demanding operating conditions that has translated into an ever increasing need for tougher, longer-lasting, better performing valves.
Valve service environments and operating conditions within the oil and gas industry are unique and extreme. From exceptionally high temperature and very low- pressure applications, valves must be designed to perform dependably. In addition to this wide range of conditions, the remote locations of valve services also present unique challenges.
For example: Pipeline valves exposed to the extreme temperatures found in a desert. In these applications, valve strength and performance is critical because of the damage that leakage could cause to the seas and their
fragile ecosystems.
Standard options for this segment include ball valves and gate valves. They are used for a variety of reasons including resistance to corrosion and damage caused by constant exposure to raw sea water. In addition, these valves offer low-depth sensitivity and have proven over time to perform well in this high- pressure, remote environment.
To support the operational integrity of this application, as in the upstream segment, the most common valve solutions for the midstream market include full-port gate and ball valves in materials chosen specifically for the service.
Conclusion:
A valve suppliers that could provide a complete range of solutions are very few in number. We are one of the major players in the valve manufacturing and supply. UL FM approved valves and WRAS approved valves are the general industrial norms for the valves that our company has acquired approvals. We as a ball valve suppliers ensure that there is a proper adhering of the industry and company specific standards as well as give a full commitment to the requirement of the customers.
