TYPES OF GATE VALVES & INDUSTRIAL USES

 Gate valve is primarily used for the fluid pipeline, it functions by uplifting the gate out of the path, it is a linear motion valve, used to start or stop the flow of fluid, and these valves are either in a fully open or fully closed position. TYPES OF GATE VALVES

PARALLEL GATE VALVES:

Parallel Gate valves are designed for isolation and transmission of flow in a piping system it can be used to control the flow of gas can be furnished in high differential pressures, it is mainly used in the oil and gas industries.
These valves have slide disc with parallel gates faced like a blockage member, the block age member has either a single disc or two discs with a mechanism to spread in between.



In the case of a single disc, the force that is given to the disc by pressing the disc against the seat and it is controlled by the fluid pressure, it will act as either a floating disc or floating seat, if in case of two discs then in addition to this force, a mechanical force is used from a spreading mechanism between the discs.

The flow of resistance is low in parallel gate valves which is one of the pros, this also handles the fluids, which carry solids in delay. There are some limitations in the use of parallel gate valves which include, the seating force may be less to produce a seal between metal to metal seatings and using valve operation many times lead to excessive wear of the seating faces. Hence this parallel valve is used rarely for valve operation.

WEDGE GATE VALVES:

Wedge gate valves have a wedge-shaped disc that seats in opposition to two inclined seats. Solid wedges are used for steam service. The design of solid wedges reduces the vibration the metal-shaped gate valves are used to seal both high and low fluid pressures. The metal seated wedge gate valve is higher than the metal seated parallel gate valve in the degree of tightness of the seat.

The disc travels in the bodies of the valves, which also carries guide ribs or slots, these guides are used to take the wedge aside from the downstream seat, another purpose of this guide is, while travelling between open and closed position valves the disc rotates excessively and If In case rotation occurs, the disc will get jam on one side initially and then it rotates into the correct position before travelling into the final seating position.
