VALVE USES – DO’S AND DON’TS OF INDUSTRIAL VALVES

Image
Valves are a part of many daily functions, from ensuring your car does not overheat to successfully operating a chemical plant.   They have been designed to perform a variety of functions such as stopping and starting, throttling, or acting as a no return for flow. There are a large variety of valves and valve configurations to suit all services and conditions; different uses (on/off, control), different fluids (liquid, gas etc.; combustible, toxic, corrosive etc.) different materials and different pressure and temperature conditions. They are primarily used for starting or stopping flow, regulating or throttling flow, preventing back flow or relieving and regulating pressure in fluid or gaseous handling applications. Isolation Valves  – Used for systems that do not need the flow throttled and allow the flow and closes to stop flow. Non-Return Valves  – Used to control the speed and capacity of flow through the system. Throttle Valves  – Used to control the direction...

GATE VALVE SELECTION GUIDE: TYPES, FEATURES, APPLICATIONS.

Image
INTRODUCTION: Gate valves (also known as knife valves or slide valves) are linear motion valves in which a flat closure element slides into the flow stream to provide shut-off. They are one of the most common valves used. Gate valves are advantageous in applications involving slurries, as their “gates” can cut right through the slurry, is pointed out by a  Gate Valves Supplier . They are designed to minimize pressure drop across the valve in the fully opened position and stop the flow of fluid completely. The direction of fluid flo w does not change, and the diameter through which the process fluid passes is essentially equal to that of the pipe. Hence, they tend to have minimal pressure drop when opened fully. Gate valves are designed for fully open or fully closed service. They are installed in pipelines as isolating valves, and should not be used as control or regulating valves.   TYPES OF GATE VALVES: Gate valves are usually divided into the following types: The parallel g...

DOUBLE OFFSET BUTTERFLY VALVES BEHAVIOUR

Image
TO BEGIN WITH: When it comes to the safety of other components like boilers, reactors, pumps etc., valves play an important role. In many shut-off applications, butterfly valves are the primary selection because of its quarter-turn operation, compact design, and simplicity, one of the primary reasons why many valve suppliers prefer these valves to customers with specific industrial needs. Butterfly valves  control fluid flow in a pipe by using a disc attached to a central shaft. This disc controls the amount of fluid passing through the valve by creating a variable opening. These valves can be classified according to the alignment of the disc with respect to the valve body: Zero offset or concentric butterfly valve Double offset butterfly valve Triple offset butterfly valve Majority of butterfly valves with plastic linings are zero offset. Those that are made of metal and some with rubber lining are either double or triple offset butterfly valves.   DOUBLE ...

WHY CONTROL VALVES ARE POPULAR IN MOST INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Image
INTRODUCTION: The growth of technology has made our life easier and one of those technologies is Control Vales that eliminate  some of the daunting manual tasks while increasing the speed of the process. Control Valves are the valves that are used to control different conditions. These are being frequently used in many areas to control the flow, temperature, pressure, or level of any liquid. They work by closing or opening either fully or partially, when the signals are received from the controllers. By assisting in controlling the flow/temperature of liquid, these valves are increasingly being employed in oil & gas as well as in manufacturing industries. These valves are also used at homes to control the flow of water. As pointed out by leading  European valve manufacturers ,  most of the Process plants consist of hundreds, or even thousands, of control valves all networked together to produce a product to be offered for sale. Each of these control valves...

EXTENDING THE LIFE OF INDUSTRIAL VALVES

Image
TO BEGIN WITH: Extending the Life of Industrial ValvesThe drop in oil prices, keeping valve and actuation equipment working at its optimal  performance level is one way to save money and keep production costs at a minimum. For this reason, end users must find ways to extend the life of valves and actuation equipment, keeping them at their optimal performance level to decrease valve replacement costs. As opined by one of the   European valve manufacturers ,  “The three most important principles are typically selection, installation and maintenance. Selecting the appropriate valve for the application is probably the single most critical factor in determining its life cycle.  After that, it must be properly installed and then regularly maintained in order to maximize life expectations. Adhering to a regular maintenance schedule that includes inspection, cleaning and lubrication is essential to any valve performance and greatly increases its life.” WAYS TO EXTEND VALVE L...

INDUSTRIAL VALVES ENSURING SAFETY AND LONG LASTING PERFORMANCE

Image
Current Industrial Growth: End-users and  valve suppliers  are always on the lookout for ways to increase the life of industrial valves. These methods include proper installation and valve selection. A poorly installed valve can cause the valve to fail sooner than it should, meaning a higher replacement cost. Industrial valves have been around for more than a century. As applications become more specific and complicated, valves have evolved into nine major types to suit different requirements. This growth can be attributed to the growing industrial activities across the countries in Asia-Pacific region, such as growing number of oil and gas, chemical, water and many other manufacturing plants. Furthermore, growing construction of new nuclear power stations and capacity expansions in petroleum refining plants are also expected to drive the demand for industrial valves across the region. Ways to Ensure Safety and Long Lasting Performance: In order to extend the service li...

AN INSIGHT INTO VARIOUS TYPES OF VALVES

Image
Introduction: Valves play an important role in our everyday lives. Wherever fluids move in a pipe, valves are needed to secure their safe and reliable flow. And this happens in most process industries – and even to make products or materials that might surprise you. Millions of valves are working day and night in various industries globally. Valves as opined by a leading  Valve Stockist in Dubai ,  are mechanical or electro-mechanical devices that are used to control the movement of liquids, gases, powders, etc. through pipes or tubes, or from tanks or other containers. In most instances, valves rely on some form of mechanical barrier—a plate, a ball, a diaphragm, for example—that can be inserted and removed from the flow stream of the material passing by. Some valves are designed as on-off varieties, while others allow very fine control of the passage of media. Valves generally help secure safety in process plants by regulating and controlling process flows. ...
