SEVEN TYPES OF VALVES AND THEIR APPLICATIONS
Introduction: Valves are electro-mechanical devices that are used to control the movement of various elements through pipes or tubes, or from tanks or other containers. While most valves are designed by the Valve Manufacturers as on-off types, others are designed to enable accurate control of the passage of media. In most of the instances, the valves typically rely on some form of mechanical barrier. Types of Valves and Their Applications : Ball Valves : Ball Valves are a type of quarter-turn valves that incorporates ported spheres which spins in the pipe stream to either block, or allow, flow and provides low head-loss characteristics as the port can exactly match the pipe diameter. These valves are used in places where a fluid flow must be shut off i.e., from a compressed-air line to a high-pressure, hydraulic system. Butterfly Valves : Butterfly Valves are also a type of quarter-turn valves which employ centre-mounted circular flaps that swing into, and out of, the flow stream
